Lymphoedema Awareness Week 2026: United in Care. Diverse in Practice.

Running from 2-8 March 2026, this Lymphoedema Awareness Week we seek to shine a light on the breadth and depth of lymphoedema care in practice. With the theme ‘United in Care. Diverse in Practice’, the campaign recognises and celebrates the skilled and accredited professionals who work tirelessly across a diverse range of clinical, community and academic settings throughout Australasia.

LAW 2026 aims to deepen understanding of the sector and highlight the diversity of practice within which care is delivered. Together, we form a united front of professionals working towards a common cause of improving outcomes and care for individuals living with lymphoedema.

ALA Masterclass: Management of Upper Quadrant Challenges Post Breast Cancer Surgery including cording and breast oedema

This masterclass session will explore: • Biomechanical changes that occur in upper quadrant function following breast cancer surgery in the context of a biopsychosocial model of care. • The impact of problems that may occur postoperatively, breast oedema/lymphoedema and reconstruction on movement recovery. • Options to assist in symptom reduction while improving function recovery. • Relationship between suboptimal musculoskeletal recovery and lymphoedema.

Minister for Health announces commitment to improved access to lymphoedema compression garment subsidies

20 June 2018

In response to the State of the Nation report released by Breast Cancer Network of Australia on Wednesday 20 June, the Minister for Health, the Hon. Greg Hunt on behalf of the Australian Federal Government announced three commitments including: To work with state and territory governments to improve access to lymphoedema compression garment subsidies and create a national standard.
